Sterling was on Saturday named in Liverpool's 30-man squad for their tour of Thailand, Australia and Malaysia, but fresh developments over a potential move to a Premier League club.
Sky sources understand the Premier League club is Manchester City, meaning he will not board the plane.
City have had two bids for Sterling turned down by Liverpool - the second believed to be in the region of £40m.
